Anscoing America
In 1918, Ansco published a catalog profusely illustrated with charming drawings of a dashing woman traveling and photographing across the United States.
On the front cover of the catalog was a photo of a woman with her camera about to set out on a trip (left). The drawings inside (below), chronicled her travels until she returned home as pictured on the back cover (right).
Like Kodak, Ansco tried to make their product name synonymous with photography by using it as a verb--"Anscoing". Fortunately they did not succeed. Below are some examples of the Ansco Girl on her travels.
